Meet Mike

I'm Mike Lancaster and yes I was on the Further bus in 1964. I was only 13 years old so Ken couldn't list me on the bus since it was against the law to take a minor out of state!

Several others who were underage were on the buss as well.
I did all of the Acid Test Posters, all of the victorian women that appears on Wes Wison's posters, I created all of the posters that Family Dog used and thier logo.  I supplied all of the tie dye shirts sold in the shops in San Francisco during '65 and '66.  And yes I was the one who created the Steal Your Face logo for the Dead and Created the bears also. I tell you about this in other pages, you can find the storie in our store section.  Thank you for coming to this site...We are all "On Further"

Wes Wilson called me and wanted me to go over to Jerry's house before they left on a road trip.  He needed a group picture for a poster.  When I got there, Jerry and the boys were higher than all get out, they could hardly walk!  They laughed when I asked them to poise for the photo and down the street they went laughing thier asses off and giving me the finger.  It made me so mad I went to my studio and drew the bears to depict Jerry and the gang, and this picture is of my original drawing, This got ruined in the Missouri flood, but we had pictures.

When Owsley came by to deliver the acid for us to sell, he noticed the picture and asked about it. When I told him the reason, he asked if he could have it. When I told him no, he took his camara and took a picture of it.  I had no idea what he was doing until i saw the bears of Jerry' s new album cover when I was in Viet Nam.  Pissed me off, but could do nothing about it.

I am printing this picture on heavy canvas it would make good conversation. $49
